Half-Life 2 Based Traning Game

Project Danger Zone is a Half-Life 2 based training game made for client MSB (Myndigheten för samhällsskydd och beredskap) - rescue service agency of Sweden. It is a serious game oriented towards fire fighters to help them learn how to search for dangerous gases like oil. With this game the player should learn how to scan the environment around him/her in a proper manner to find and determine where there are imminent gas dangers. By doing so the player will know how to work with dangerous gases and have no problems in conduction the search effort in a correct manner.

Game is implemented with Half-Life 2 modding. Hammer Editor is used for level design and game design. Source SDK is used for implementing custom entities to be used in Hammer.

In the game there are currently two levels. First level is tutorial level that is used for giving basics of tools and game environment. In the second level, there are challenging and fun factors supported with a feed-back mechanism.

Some Features of the Game :

- Realistic model of gas diffusion.

- Realistic model of gas detector behaviour.

- Users can measure 4 different levels of height to detect gas density level.

- Users can mark different levels of danger zones with 3 different markers.

- Game is fully adaptable to SIDH - a game based fire fighter simulator.
